What this is
Explore Theft Auto is a free, unofficial fan app that helps you track a game without spoiling it. Unofficial fan-made app. Not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Rockstar Games or Take-Two Interactive.
You do not need an account. Using the app means you accept these terms; if you do not, please do not use it.
Using it
Use it for yourself. Do not try to break it, overload it or get around how it works. Do not copy the guide in bulk with scripts or resell it. Only sign up to the email list with your own address. The email list is for people aged 16 or over.
What we promise and what we cannot
The app is free, has no ads, and keeps what you do on your own device.
The guide comes from official material, from openly licensed fan-made maps we credit on the about page, and from what players report. It may be wrong: anything not yet checked is labelled Unconfirmed, and places on the map are approximate until launch.
Spoiler hiding is careful but best effort: it only knows the progress you tell it, not what you have seen elsewhere.
The app can change or stop. If it stops, what you saved stays in your browser until you clear it. Use Download my data on the privacy page while the site is still up to keep a copy.
Tips and corrections you send
When you send a tip or a correction, you confirm it is your own observation and not leaked or copied material. You let us edit it, publish it and use it in the guide, without credit unless we say otherwise. We may reject anything without publishing it.
Never include personal data about other people. What you send goes to a private review queue; nobody else sees it.
Names, marks and our own work
Grand Theft Auto, GTA and related names and marks belong to Take-Two Interactive and are used only to describe what the app is about. We use no official logos, art, fonts or game files. The base map is a fan-made map traced by hand, used under CC BY 4.0 and credited on the about page.
Our code and text are ours. Open-source parts keep their own licences, which ship with the app, for example the map library's at /licenses/leaflet.txt.
Reporting a problem or asking us to take something down
Think something here infringes your rights, reveals leaked material, or should not be here for another reason? Email [email protected] with "Takedown" in the subject and tell us which page or item and why.
A person will reply within 24 hours, and anything that plausibly breaks the rules comes down while we look. The 24 hours is our promise of a reply; the fix follows as fast as we can make it. A request from the owner of the game's names and marks is acted on first and discussed second.
Responsibility
The app is provided as it is, without guarantees. As far as the law allows, we are not responsible for indirect loss from using it, such as a missed collectible or a spoiled surprise. Nothing here takes away rights you have as a consumer where you live.
Changes
The date at the top tells you when these terms last changed. We announce changes that matter on the site, and by email to the list when they affect people on it.
